Start with the safe basics
Disconnect charging cables and accessories. Wipe the outside with a soft, lint-free cloth, then hold the iPhone with the speaker grille facing downward so gravity can help.
- Do not insert cotton swabs or tools into the grille.
- Do not use a hair dryer, heater, or high-pressure compressed air.
- Do not charge the device while its connector may still be wet.
Use a guided sound pattern
A low-frequency pattern makes the speaker diaphragm move more visibly than ordinary music. Those vibrations can help dislodge droplets held by surface tension in the grille.
In Water Eject, choose a mode, follow the recommended volume guidance, keep the speaker facing down, and let the pattern finish. Stop if you hear unexpected distortion or the device becomes unusually warm.
Check the result
Play a familiar voice recording or use the app’s left/right channel tests, tones, and pink noise. If the speaker is improving but still muffled, allow more drying time before trying another short run.
If audio stays distorted, disappears completely, or the phone shows charging, screen, or power problems, stop troubleshooting and contact a qualified repair provider. An app cannot repair internal water damage.
