Why rain changes the sound
The speaker grille contains very small openings. Surface tension can hold droplets across that mesh, creating a temporary barrier between the speaker and the air. The result may sound quiet, dull, or distorted.
What to do immediately
Move the phone out of the rain, remove the case, wipe the exterior, and point the speaker grille downward. Give water a clear path out before playing any ejection pattern.
- Keep the device away from heat.
- Avoid forceful shaking or compressed air.
- Wait before connecting a cable if the charging port was exposed.
When sound patterns can help
Water Eject plays controlled low-frequency patterns designed to move the speaker diaphragm and help trapped droplets leave the grille. Run a guided mode at the recommended volume, then test both channels.
If the problem persists after the phone has had time to dry, or if other hardware behaves abnormally, seek professional service. Saltwater and heavy submersion deserve particular caution.
